Until June 05th, 2017, the Grand Palais des Champs-Élysées will be presenting an exhibition featuring a fabulous selection of the most precious and finest jewels and rare gems that shows the evolution and development of gem-setting in the Indian subcontinent starting from the period of the Mughal rule in India up until the time of the Maharajas.
Called “From the Great Mughals to the Maharajas: Jewels from the Al Thani collection”, the exhibition offers visitors an unparalleled chance to view the outstanding collection of Sheikh Hamad bin Abdullah Al Thani displayed at one of the most renowned art museums and landmarks of Paris, in addition to pieces from prestigious institutions and private collections.
More than 250 fascinating pieces are on view, including the Aigrette, the Agra diamond, the Wine Cup of the Mughal Emperor Jahangir, and The Idol's Eye—the largest cut blue diamond in the world.
